When I look at elements within the environment I focus on patterns, textures, marks lines, tones and colours. My paintings are a culmination of thoughts, observations and inspirations starting with aspects of the natural world and expanding to allow a playful and creative approach and a personal response to these views or scenes. I have travelled extensively within Australia and my paintings often come from initial sketches or photos taken on site. At times I like to reduce my responses to an abstract exploration of colour, texture or form. Most of my paintings which feature trees use them as a metaphor for another idea or feeling whereas my landscapes are usually more of a reaction to individual places and features around Australia.
